What did the project involve?

Phelan was thrilled to work on the fit-out of the hugely popular Oblix restaurant in London’s The Shard. As the site was based on the 32nd floor, Phelan employed a full-time logistics manager to coordinate the deliveries and transportation of materials to site. Phelan’s highly skilled on-site team then coordinated all of the specialist sub-contractors to ensure a seamless, quality delivery of the project.

What challenges did the project team face?

The site was based on the 32nd floor, as well as within the demise of the shell contractor, MACE’s, site. As such, the project was the most logistically difficult project that we have ever undertaken. It also required an extremely high-end and ‘no expense spared’ finish, which meant applying exceptional standards at all time with very expensive materials that needed protecting from damage throughout.

What stand-out features did the project boast?

The expert team at Phelan delivered the project both on time and to the satisfaction of the discerning client. Large parts of the project were delivered in-house, including an in-situ molten metal casting for the bespoke internal wall cladding. Overall, the project was finished to an exceptional standard. The restaurant remains a hot spot in this landmark building.
